Today, I will share a classic sparkling wine cocktail with you.
The name is Black Velvet (Чёрный Бархат).
1 part cold dark strong beer
1 part cold dry (or brut) sparkling wine
Pour the ingredients into a champange flute glass, beer first, sparkling wine layered over. The wine will go under and make a thin layer on the bottom, the rest will mix through the drink. Pour the champange wine on the wall of the glass (or with a spoon - if you are lame like that) to keep the beer foam intact. Drink slowly, enjoy the taste.
Last night I did this with cold Murphy's dark beer and semi-cold semi-sweet Sovetskoe Shampanskoe. The mix of two drinks was surprisingly good-tasting. I don't like dark beer, and you can't drink and enjoy the Sovetskoe brand in the same time - but this mix proved to be really good.
Best results could be achieved if you use Guiness and pour any kind of Brut over it. You could use a more expensive wine brand (a champange for example) for a more exclusive taste, but do that only if you think you will taste the difference
There is also a variation when you pour a sweeter sparkling wine over a light beer. The name would be Marshall. I haven't tried this, but if I were to make it, I'd use the lightest beer I can find (no bitter at all) and an Asti. Enjoy!
Tonight: Piknik concert at the Tochka club. Got to be good. We got a table this time too, so we'll listen rich pig style. :)
